Our focus this month, as we begin 2019, is wines of character produced under the protocols of Biodynamic farming. Rudolf Steiner's concept from the 1920's sees the farm as one living organism in harmony with the sun, moon and stars. Chemicals are eschewed in favor of natural materials and composts. Cultivation and harvest follow a calendar in accord with nature.Thank you for being a member of The Cellar Club!HAPPY NEW YEARWine Pick #1:Les Deux Moulins Sauvignon BlancLoire Valley, FranceBiodynamic, no sulfites added, sustainable. This wonderful Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from vineyards located between Anjou and Tours in the Loire Valley rich...

Cellar Club November 2018 EEE - Exciting Eastern EuropeGiven a map of Central and Eastern Europe- once the heart of the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War era-the average American wine consumer would struggle to pinpoint countries like Slovenia, Hungary, Romania or Georgia. But in terms of global wine production, the region is actually a substantial contributor. As of 2010, Romania ranked sixth in the European Union for wine production, sandwiched between Germany and Greece. Hungary trails just after Greece in eighth place. Labeled with tongue-tying grape varieties and appellations, it's not surprising that U.S. imports from these regions have...

October 2018 Cellar Club Washington Wines An important winegrowing state increasingly recognized for its high-quality reds and whites, Washington ranks second in production in the U.S. after California. Washington wines continue to gain well-deserved popularity as they garner higher and higher praise from critics and consumers alike.Washington winemakers draw inspiration mainly from Napa Valley, Bordeaux and the Rhône as well as increasingly from other regions like Spain and Italy. Most viticulture takes place on the eastern side of the state-an arid desert in the rain shadow of the Cascade mountains. Temperatures are extreme, with hot and dry summers and cold...
