As a special reward to Cellar Club members, we've grabbed two delights for you to enjoy before they're available to anyone else. Don't forget to save the dates and save some cash. It all begins on Friday, June 7th at 10:00 am!
Thank you for being a member of The Cellar Club!
Wine Pick #1:
2014 Yangarra Estate Shiraz
Kangarilla, McLaren Vale, SA, Australia
We were excited to get our hands on this Biodynamic, single-vineyard, estate sourced Shiraz from, perhaps, the most desirable part of Australia's McLaren Vale as part of this year's Garage Sale lineup. Wines from "Down Under" have fallen from favor in recent years, but all it takes is one fine specimen like this to remind us that some of the best wines in the world called "Oz" home. Also, as a special nod to our Club Members, you get the first taste of this wine that won't be available to the public until mid-sale!
Wine Pick #2:
2014 Sans Liege Groundwork
Grenache Blanc
Paso Robles, California
Winemaker Curt Schalchlin adheres to the ethos of Sans Liege or "Without King" to craft wines that draw inspiration from the best of Old World France and New World California. His love of Rhone varietals drew him to the Central Coast's distinct microclimates and a belief in letting the unique fruits from each source dictate the wines he creates. This delicious white is one of our favorite California wines and we grabbed all we could for this year's Garage Sale.
CHEESE PAIRING OF THE MONTH:
Plymouth Artisan Cheese Co.
Original Cheddar
The Original Plymouth recipe is precisely that: it is the original Coolidge-era formula that was discovered on a frayed scrap of paper, taped to the walls of the old Plymouth factory, and revitalized by founder Jesse Werner in 2009. Aged for one whole year, this cheddar is the most antiquated of the English varieties, an old-world recipe with a sharp, rich flavor profile that lingers, like a passed down story. It's a full-bodied cheese, rounded with the perfect balance of cream and tang, and said to be closest to what the settlers of the 1600s consumed. Original Plymouth is the signature granular curd cheddar recipe on which all the other varieties are based. And as the great spark ignitor of the whole Plymouth line, this raw heritage cheddar literally tastes like a walk back in time.
