WINES OF THE WEEK
ITALIAN WOMEN IN WINE!
Suavia Soave Classico 2018
93 Points James Suckling Beautiful chamomile, green apples, guava peel and pomelo here. Steely and flinty with razor-edged acidity and loads of citrus and spice flavors. Edgy and tense. Drink now. ONLY $14.99 Tami Nero D'Avola 2017 Beautiful red-fruited aromas with ripe cherry, slightly tart pomegranate and an herbaceous note on the palate followed by a rich (yet not too aggressive) mouthfeel. Wrapping up with ripe, moderate tannins and a distinctly 'Sicilian' earthy characteristic. TAMI is a joint effort between young gun biodynamic producer Ariana Occhipinti and her local wine-centric amici. The result is a world-class Nero d'Avola that's about half the price of her estate wines! ONLY $15.99 La Stoppa Trebbiolo Rosso 2018 This is a dark, woodsy, rich, heady smelling wine. Honestly, there's something primal about this. The aroma isn't polished or clear per se, but it's so robust and deliciously real- it's what I imagine the ancient wines of Odysseus tasting like; legendary, archetypal, and almost like something that isn't of this time and place. I can smell plums, raspberry, blackberry, black cherries. But there's something exotic about how this smells. Big and juicy! The fruit is lush and fills my mouth. That exotic quality is there with peppery spice that's so prickly the wine almost seems a touch fizzy in its wildness. The blackberry flavors are so lush and thick. The tannins are strong with a rustic character, but the fruit is so big and lush that the tannins are second fiddle and not so noticeable. ONLY $19.99
