WINES OF THE WEEK
Les Pouches Saumur Rosé 2022
One of the first cooperative wineries in the Loire, Cave de Saumur exemplifies a spirit of quality over quantity with the resulting wines representing outstanding value. Is Cabernet Franc THE best varietal for rosés? Many of us would answer YES! Red fruit aromas, floral notes, a touch of sage and cedar, juicy heft with plenty of lift. This wine has it all.
$12.99
Liquid Geography Rosé Mencia 2022
Aromas and flavors of strawberries, red-currant and white pepper show very good clarity and energy. Concentrated yet lithe rosado, with a nervy acid structure providing shape and lift. Finishes taut and minerally, with an echo of red berries. Importers Patrick Mata and Alberto Orte have supported the T.J. Martell Foundation and its cancer research initiatives, in particular, 50% of all profits from their sales of Liquid geography go towards the Foundation’s work.
$13.99
Domaine de Pallus Chinon Messanges Rosé 2022
Biodynamically farmed and the lightest of hands in the cellar make for an absolutely pure expression of this rosé of cabernet franc from, arguably, the finest point of origin for this varietal. Raspberry, cranberry, citrus, savory herb and subtle tomato leaf are here. Bright and obsessively drinkable. You may need a second bottle.

Bow & Arrow Time Machine Red NV
Our cellar’s non-vintage, daily drinker. This year’s rendition features a blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay and Cab Franc that has spent time in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak. Bright, fresh, crunchy and great acidity. This wine is equally comfortable on a dinner table entertaining guests as it is on a front porch with a slight chill on hot summer days.

Valli Unite Barb and the Beast Sparkling Barbera 2020
Fruity and a little funky, this sparkler from the southeastern corner of Piemonte is born of one of Italy’s first natural wine cooperatives created in the 70’s. Vineyards lie amid beehives, farm animals, orchards, and truffle filled woodlands. From honey to homemade salame, and wine in-between, 30 members work on the 100-hectare farm and call it home. During harvest, you can still stomp grapes with your bare feet here.

Day Wines Belle Pente Vineyard Chardonnay 2019
Belle Pente, meaning “beautiful slope”, is set on a historic 70 acre farm in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Combined with dry-farming and livestock incorporation, the grapes are biodynamically farmed. The sedimentary soils produce a wine with citrus and tropical flavors, underlying minerality, and firm acidity.
