Wine Pick #1:
Château du Trignon Viognier 2020
Côtes-du-Rhône, France
This esteemed estate has been passed on from generation to generation for more than 125 years. Today, Florence Quiot and her brother Jean-Baptiste take a hands-on approach and dedicate themselves to continuing a tradition of the highest quality estate-bottled wines. The Quiot family has been working in the vineyards of the Rhône valley since at least 1748. Their vineyards are spread across 6 appellations of the Southern Rhône valley. Château du Trignon has great respect for each of the appellation's terroir and works hard to produce rich and approachable wines.
Wine Pick #2
Domaine Les Roches Bleues
La Croquante Brouilly 2021
Brouilly, Beaujolais, France
One couldn’t ask for a better location than the position enjoyed by Jonathan Buisson and his Domaine Les Roches Bleues at the foot of the majestic Mont Brouilly in southern Beaujolais. The domain began in 1967 when Jonathan’s grandparents, Annie and Louis Bassy, acquired a few hectares of vines with the strong desire to start their own estate. In 2017, Jonathan Buisson took over his family estate and began the transition to organic viticulture and natural wine production. His focus now is on producing the purest expression of his terroir as possible. Domaine Les Roches Bleues has ten hectares of estate Gamay vine.
CHEESE PAIRING OF THE MONTH:
Blue Ledge Farm Camembrie
Camembrie is a mild Ayrshire cow’s milk cheese that is Blue Ledge Farm’s take on a Camembert & Brie hybrid! Each wheel is coated with a thin, mushroomy rind that adds a beautiful depth of flavor to the buttery, gooey paste beneath. The cheese ripens over a period of 6 to 8 weeks, during which time the smooth creamy flavors develop and intensify until the wheels are perfectly ripe and ready to enjoy. A delicious Vermont spin on two French classics!
