WINES OF THE WEEK
Try Something New Month!
Atance Valencia Bobal 2018
90 Points Wine Enthusiast
The Bobal variety is gaining new admirers and for good reason. Atance is sourced from organically-farmed Bobal on estate vineyards with limestone soils at 800 meters altitude. The wine is fermented in stainless steel with malolactic fermentation in oak vats where the wine matured for four months before bottling. This very expressive, clean and focused, nicely balanced, no apparent oak, with vibrant fruit and a nice focus. Very tasty and easy-drinking, balanced and with a clean finish. It opens up nicely with time in the glass, with some floral notes. Drink with just about anything, pizza or Mediterranean style sandwiches come to mind.

Gradis'Ciutta Collio Friulano 2017
Wildflower, honeyed nut and mature yellow-stone fruit aromas continue on to the structured palate along with the orange zest. It closes on a pleasant note of bitter almond that lingers on the finish.
$18.99

Androvic, Peljesac Peninsula Plavac Mali 2017
DNA testing shows that Plavac Mali and Zinfandel are not the same grape but related and that Zinfandel could... actually be parent, Plavac Mali translates into "small blue" and refers to the grape itself, which tends to be lighter in the body than Zinfandel.
Aromas of plum, blackberry, cherry, and hazelnut. On the palate: full-bodied, structured wine that leaves a long, velvety finish. Very powerful wine.
