Zagare is the name of the white flower of the local lemon tree and this vibrant and expressive vermentino is sourced from Sicily’s west coast where the nearby sea is a major influence as the stone fruit, lemon, white flower, citrus peel and peach are accompanied by a pleasing bit of salinity. Simply delicious, it begs the question, “Why don’t I drink more vermentino?”
The winery has propagated its own clone of Frappato, Rina Russa, that presents a unique expression of the varietal’s wild strawberry character. Crisp acidity and a silky mouthfeel combine to entice yet another quaff of this quintessential summer sipper.
This Chardonnay (with a splash of Vermentino) shows bright straw yellow in color with citrus, pear, white flowers, and a flinty minerality. This wine is well-balanced, full, and rich but remains light on its feet. If you haven’t tried chardonnay from Italy, now is the time!
