WINES OF THE WEEK
Batasiolo Dolcetto D’Alba 2021
The Dogliani family has amassed the largest, family-own holdings in all of Piemonte since 1978. Excellent fruit, therefore, is readily available and this ruby red dolcetto is packed with notes of red and black cherries, raspberries, and plum. A hint of earth, leather and char act as counterpoint to the bright fruit and acidity. With a light chill, this is hard to resist.
$16.99
Mas de Janiny Blanc 2020
The Julien brothers took over the family winery in the late 1980s and immediately began conversion to all organic practices. This excellent white blend is the perfect table wine that shows white flowers, yellow apple, pear and a subtle herbaceous touch. Its name translates to “It’s good just like this” and we quite agree.
$13.99
Almacita Brut Rosé 2022
Another excellent sparkling wine from the four winemaking friends at Alma4. The hand-harvested grapes for this wine were sourced from altitudes of 4,000+ feet and spent six months in steel tanks on the lees in what has become known as the “Long Charmat” method. The result is a fine bubble and silky textured sparkler showing strawberry, raspberry, rose petal, brioche and a touch of toasted almonds. Chalky tannins complete this elegant offering.
