Shipping Policy

SHIPPING POLICY:  

Customers have the option to select Ground Shipping, 2-Day Express Shipping, or 1-Day Express Shipping for their purchase. Depending on the product, an Express Shipping method (2-Day or 1-Day) may be required if the Ground Shipping method cannot deliver the package as quickly as we require. 

Cheese & Wine Traders currently ships to all 48 continental states. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands.

In-Store Only Gift Cards are mailed through USPS only. 

At this time, we can only ship to residential addresses or business addresses. We cannot ship to P.O Boxes. 

Upon checkout, you are given the choice to select a date for the package to ship from our store in South Burlington, Vermont. We cannot guarantee a delivery date with ground/standard shipping at this time. All packages are sent out on a Monday-Friday with FedEx. We recommend choosing the fastest transit option available and placing orders to not ship over weekends. Processing times may be extended in the months of November and December.

Any Gift Baskets marked as “Free Shipping” will be shipped Ground unless an Express Shipping option is selected & paid for by the customer. Please note that depending on the recipient’s address, Express Shipping may still be required due to the perishability of the products within the following baskets & boxes: Cheese Lover’s Crate, Cheese 101 Box, Bayley Hazen Basket, and Victory Cheese Box.

An order cannot be canceled once it has been shipped. If you decide to cancel after shipment, our standard shipping return policy applies.

The customer (sender) will be responsible for a $20 FedEx Address Change Fee if the address is provided incorrectly.

If a package is returned to Cheese & Wine Traders due to an incorrect address, the customer (sender) will be refunded the cost of the order minus the FedEx returned package fee ($25). Unfortunately, unlike items that have a longer shelf life, items that are perishable are unable to be resold after they are sent back to us. When this situation occurs, we do offer customers a 20% discount on a replacement order.

At this time, Cheese & Wine Traders cannot ensure a known delivery date with Ground Shipping. All packages ship from South Burlington, VT. Delivery will take 2-7+ days from the date of shipment. Delivery methods and dates are under the discretion of the FedEx driver, if the package contains perishable items, we recommend having someone home at the time of delivery or alerting your recipient of the delivery. 

Customers must notify Cheese & Wine Traders within 3 days of receiving the package if the package is damaged or if any of the goods are spoiled. We wrap and package to ship these gift baskets to be able to ship across the country. If you're unsatisfied with your package upon arrival, please let us know within 72 hours. Some damages may incur during transit (ie packaging loosening during transit) that is out of our control. We do our best to refund & exchange any products that are damaged or spoiled in transit. However, we can not guarantee refunds and exchanges under the following circumstances:

  • Delayed delivery due to an address change after the shipment has been sent out. 
  • Packages that are delivered to the wrong address. Please be sure to include apartment suite or floor numbers, as needed. 
  • Package received but contents not refrigerated within 24 hours allowing for unnecessary spoilage (all boxes are clearly marked "Perishable").
  • Delayed deliveries due to weather, “Acts of God”, or FedEx operating schedules.

Once the delivery has been requested, we cannot refund the delivery fee incurred. 

All claims must be submitted to us via e-mail to hello@cheesetraders.com. Claims will not be accepted via the phone.

VERMONT DELIVERY:

We offer Vermont Delivery via 3rd party service for the delivery of gift baskets, perishable items, alcoholic beverages, and more to over 60 Zip Codes throughout the state. If placing an order using the Vermont Delivery option be sure to put your recipient's full information (including phone number) into the shipping details. The Vermont Delivery courier will make an attempt to contact recipients upon arrival for each delivery.

At this time, these packages can only be delivered in an approximate time window and cannot guarantee a specific delivery time within these windows. 

Packages must be signed for by someone at least 21 years old if the package contains any alcohol. Our Vermont Delivery courier cannot leave any packages containing alcohol due to state liability.  If the delivery is attempted and nobody is home to sign for the package, the package will be returned to Cheese & Wine Traders.

Packages without alcohol can be released from the courier without the recipient present but the courier must be able to gain access to a safe area to leave the package (a covered porch, front door, etc). If your recipient is in a large apartment building or condominium complex where a front door or front desk delivery is not possible and the recipient cannot be reached, the package will be returned to Cheese & Wine Traders.

Packages that are delivered to the wrong address will be returned to Cheese & Wine Traders and not rerouted. Please be sure to include apartment suite or floor numbers, as needed. 

If the package is returned to Cheese & Wine Traders, our team is happy to set up a curbside pick-up for the recipient at our store at 1186 Williston Road, South Burlington VT, or set up an additional attempt with the courier. All additional deliveries start at $15 per attempt. 

Once the delivery has been requested, we cannot refund the delivery fee incurred. 

IN-STORE PICK-UP: 

We offer an in-store pick-up option for all of the products on our website and customers are given the choice to select a day and time for pick-up.  Once an order is placed for pick up, it cannot be canceled. If a customer wishes to cancel an order, a $5 restocking fee will occur.

Orders should be picked up on their selected date and time slot. If an earlier pick-up time or date is needed, please contact us at 802-863-0143 to see if an earlier pick-up time is available. 

Orders must be picked up within 60 days of the selected pick-up date. Orders that are not picked up within the 60-day time frame will not be refunded following our in-store return policy. 

Gift & Mail Assembly and Presentation

Cheese Traders gifts are special, and we believe thoughtful presentation is the key to a spectacular gift. When purchasing online, the stated price includes any handling fees incurred for the order.  

  • Gift Baskets: The team Cheese Traders assemble each basket by hand, including confection paper or wood curls, shrink-wrap, maple candies and a finishing bow.  
  • Gift Boxes & Mail Orders: Cheese Traders will wrap each product to ensure a safe shipping including bubble-wrapping glass items, ice-packs upon request, and include packing materials to safeguard products from delivery stress. 
  • Perishability of Products: We hand-select products that are well suited to ship in a non-refrigerated climate and can be unrefrigerated for up to 14 days while in transit. We recommend refrigeration as needed as soon as possible after delivery.
