WINES OF THE WEEK
LAST WEEK OF ROSÉ MONTH!
Domaine Carrel Eugène Et Fils Savoie Rosé 2018
located in the village of Jongieux, about 40 miles southwest of Geneva. Established in the 14th century, Eugene manages the estate with his son Olivier and his son-in-law Sebastien. Despite their proximity to the Swiss Alps, the climate is surprisingly warm; Jongieux enjoys 2-3 more hours of sun than any other area in the Savoie. The Carrel vineyards are planted with indigenous varietals: Jacquere, Altesse, Gamay, and Mondeuse. This wine is a blend of 80% Gamay and 20% Mondause. This lovely Vin de Savoie rose is delightfully fresh, ruby in color and full of red fruit aromas (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries). Lush, with balanced acidity and a hint of Alpine minerality.

Alain De La Treille - Le Rosé 2018
40% Gamay, 40% Cabernet Franc, 20% Pinot Noir
"Brilliant salmon-orange color. Interesting aromas and flavors of sweet pickle relish and spiced berries and plantains with a silky, bright, dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body and a delightful, medium-length finish imparting nuances of watermelon, Bing cherry, and nut brittle with a suggestion of oak flavor. A uniquely flavorful rose with a great savory character." - Tastings, 2019 World Wine Championships, 91 pts, GOLD MEDAL

Domaine De La Chanteleuserie Rosé 2018
Bourgueil
In the heart of the Touraine in France's Loire Valley, sits the lovely Domaine de la Chanteleuserie on a plateau of limestone. This is the land of the Cabernet Franc grape, known locally as "Breton." The Chanteleuserie vineyards enjoy full southern exposure on limestone and clay, with a subsoil of porous, chalky tuffeau that also provides cellars with naturally ideal aging conditions. The utmost care in the vineyard, at harvest and the winery, is taken to ensure that the grapes maintain freshness and acidity, thereby avoiding any of the overly rustic qualities found in some Bourgueils. The rosé is crafted from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes. Half of the wine is made by the saignée method and half from directly pressing. The juice is then fermented in stainless steel until completely dry.
