WINES OF THE WEEK
Tour de France Wines!
Domaine des Vercheres- Macôn-Villages 2016
Bright, green-gold hue. On the nose, the wine is very open and full of white flower scents (acacia, elderberry). The structure on the palate is soft, supple and fruity. Food Pairings: Mâcon-Villages pairs perfectly with hot and cold pork meats, particularly different types of sausage. It also makes a nice match for fish, either steamed or cooked in a light cream sauce.

Jean-Claud Thévenet- Bourgogne Rouge 2017
Jean-Claude Thévenet made his name with his Macon whites, but in the glorious 2016 harvest, his Bourgogne Rouge turned our heads. From a warm lieu-dit in Bussieres, it serves up lovely cherry and strawberry fruit that turns darker and richer with air. There's a hint of "Sauvage" that will likely grow with cellar time, but for now, this delights with lovely fruit, good purity, and a fresh, easy, finish.

Marcel Giraudon- Bourgogne Aligoté 2017
Fresh, clean and minerally with beautifully pure ripeness of fruit. Since this grape historically produced lean, dry white wines, one of the Dukes of Burgundy created the "Kir" cocktail years ago by adding Crème de Cassis to Aligôté wine. But today, some wineries are having some pretty terrific results, such as this one!
