WINES OF THE WEEK
FONDUE FEBRUARY WINES
Thevenet Les Clos Bourgogne Rouge 2016
Burgundian aromas of cranberries, black raspberries, earth and orange peel. Chewy and sappy on the palate, Thevenet's Les Clos alternates vivid impressions of Bing cherries, tangy raspberries, soft tannins and dusty limestone soil. Bright minerals, balancing acidity and appetizing bitter herbal notes carry the wine to its long, savory finish. This is gorgeous, soil-driven, single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the southern reaches of Burgundy and a steal for its modest tariff. Pair now and over the next three years with poultry, pork, stews, and rich recipes featuring morel mushrooms.

Giesen Sauvignon Blanc 2017
91 Points Wine Enthusiast
Aromatic but not bombastic, this shows grapefruit, apple and lemon aromas on the nose that are followed by herbal notes of tomato leaf, mint and grass. There's a focused line of acidity on the palate that cuts through the fruit and rounded texture. Finishing balance with a clean dry edge, persistent flavor on the finish.
$10.99

Forty Ounce Gamay 1L 2017
Despite the playful packaging, Cappiello is making solid wine for wine lovers to drink. They're doing things the old-school way-in small batches. Medium-bodied, low in tannin, and driven by plummy, juicy fruit, the Forty Ounce Red isn't serious by any means. Just as you might expect, it's straightforward and meant for consumption at large gathering and being the life of the party. Fun stuff right here!
