WINES OF THE WEEK
WEST COAST WONDERS!
Delta Cabernet Franc 2017
From cool-climate sites, this has an herbal personality true to the variety, with light, bright layers of plum, raspberry, and sage. The tannins are well tamed and integrated, the oak neutral.
Kivelstadt Wayward Son Orange Wine 2019
This amber-colored wine offers wonderful, fresh peach and melon aromas, then tightens up on the palate as grape-skin tannins and nervy acidity takes hold. It's a bit stiff as a pre-meal drink but it can be paired with rich fish, fowl, or meat dishes where its gripping texture will be a good asset.
J Lohr Estates Syrah 2017
Varietal aromas of black cherry, blueberry, anise, and black tea are lifted by barrel aging on lees in a 60/40 blend of American and French oak barrels. A touch of floral Viognier and white pepper on the palate, with baking spice on the finish.
