Wines of the Week 5/8-5/14
2014 Firesteed - Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir is ruby in color, with lively aromas of huckleberries, cherry and cedar. Firesteed has a crisp, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a warming finish with chewy, well-integrated tannins and light oak throughout. The subtle fruit flavors are delicately framed with earthy, woody notes. Pair with roasted duck, a mushroom quiche or lasagna!
2015 Acrobat Pinot Gris
Wine Enthusiast 91 pts
A complex nose of lemon, pineapple and key lime pie is accented by firm notes of vanilla custard and jasmine. Bright flavors of fresh lime, lemon zest and green mango are immediately apparent, with ripe fruit flavors of pear and guava lingering in the mid-palate. There is an effortless balance of acidity, minerality and fresh fruit that make this wine easy to return to.
2014 Albert Bichot - Bourgogne
Bourgogne Pinot Noir "Vieilles Vignes" (old vines) is crafted from grapes grown on vines that are between 25 and 30 years old, and are located in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The age of the vines gives this wine its remarkable concentration, with straightforward, characteristic flavors. Fleshy and balanced on the palate, with oaked notes and a pleasing finish. This wine is a fine match for roasted or grilled meats, poultry, vegetables and mild cheeses.
