WINES OF THE WEEK
Our Top Wines of 2019!
Le P'Tit Paysan 2017
91 Points Wine Enthusiast
Warm aromas of baked red cherry and caramel grow more complex due to a gravelly minerality and hints of peppercorns on the nose of this bottling by Ian Brand. The palate leads with oregano and pepper, those spices overwhelming the fruit, and the rocky minerality continues, leading into a cocoa-laced finish. It is a lithe and lively style of Cab.

Camino Roca Altxerri 2018
Grape: Getariako Txakolina
The gentle fizz (as is traditional for Txakoli) is just one of the many charming elements to Roca Altxerri. Bone dry with angular but balanced acidity with a plethora of fruit notes including grapefruit and melon with fresh grass and spring flower notes on the nose. Break out the porrón!
$14.99

Tenuta Tascante Ghiaia Nera 2016
Grape: Nerello Mascalese
Red wine is grown on a volcano in Sicily! It's clear, light red with aromatics that blend the bright (currants, cranberry, mint) and the dark (wet rocks, black earth). The palate is alive with scintillant acidity and cleansing red fruits; it's remarkably like red grapefruit in the way that fruit's juice and pith grate pleasingly against the tongue.  This is a red to pour with poultry, fish, shellfish, and young and medium-aged cheeses, yet it has enough heft to pose a fresh counterpoint to rare and cured meats. It's a terrific bargain in a well-made Etna Rosso.
