Wines of the Week!
2014 Morgon Cotes du Crow's
The 12% new oak gives the wine subtle spice and vanilla characters without overpowering the elegant fruit profile. This Rhone-style blend has a rich ruby red color, highlighted with purple edges. Coffee cake, dates, and raspberry aromas jump out of the glass. The wine is medium-bodied with soft tannins; it offers a mouthful of pomegranate, black cherry, cranberry and "Rhoney" pepper. Its weight and balance make it a perfect pairing with anything off the grill.
2014 Weissburgunder "Festival"
*(aka Pinot Blanc)
Deep golden color, Meran's Weissburgunder conveys aromas of fresh yellow peaches, orange zest, golden apples and preserved ginger. On the palate, notes of fresh hay, nectarine and red pears marry with a lusciously waxy texture and a lovely lashing of smoky minerals. Fresh herbal notes of cinnamon, basil and wintergreen join the wine's deep core of orchard fruits on the long, lingering finish.
2015 Domaine du Salvard
From the Loire, this blend shows bright garnet-red in the glass. This Cheverny is fresh and lively on the palate- a wine to be consumed young. Great acidity and well balanced tannins leading to a crisp finish. This is a juicy blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir imported by Kermit Lynch.
