Wines of the Week!
2014 Joseph Drouhin Macon Villages Chardonnay
Leave it to Drouhin to elevate the humble Macon-Villages to new heights by capturing Macon's clay and limestone minerality and buttressing it with a core of lemony Chardonnay fruit. A lovely pale gold color in the glass, Drouhin's 2014 Macon-Villages opens with classic white Burgundy aromas of meadow flowers, roasted hazelnuts, buttery lemon curd and soft limestone minerality. The wine's minerality carries through to the palate, where it joins with notes of sweet butter, brioche, lemon zest and apple blossoms. Crisp, focused and again emphasizing its persistent soil expression, Drouhin's 2014 Macon finishes with reprises of freshly squeezed lemon, soft vanilla and a final wave of limestone minerals. A delightful sipper on its own, this will also make a wonderful complement now and over the coming three years for turkey of course and consider roast chicken, pork, halibut and snapper.$14.99
2014 Acinum Soave Classico
90 points and Best Buy: "Golden straw color. Delicate, fruity, floral aromas of white blossoms, spicedmangoes and papayas. This is a supple, bright, dry, yet fruity Soave. Light-to-medium bodied mid-palate shows a hint of salinity, roasted citrus, with fine, fruit tannins and no oak. A touch of honey and almond on the finish. A wonderfully savory and appetizing white wine.Dry, clean, refreshing and perfect with poultry, a quiche, even a pork tenderloin!
2015 Thorn-Clark Terra Barossa Shiraz
91 Points - Wine Spectator April 2016
Fresh earth, toasted cumin and black tea flavors are dark and dense, with black licorice and thick tannins forming a backdrop to the blackberry and plum compote notes. Persistent on the finish.Once again, amazing value.
