Wines of the Week!
Royal Rhones II
2013 Domaine La Manarine
Cotes du Rhône Rouge
This wine is 100% Grenache. A classically spicy, full-bodied wine. The grapes are destemmed before the fermentation and the cuvaison is roughly three weeks in duration. Beautifully made, great balance, rich, robust, spicy, and perfect for the cooler Fall evenings.
2013 Saint Cosme
Little James' Basket Press Blanc
The palate is fresh and fruit-filled, with notes of citrus, melons and white flowers. Quoting Robert Parker: "Louis Barruol has been at the top of his game since the late 1990s, and over the last few vintages, he has been making some of the finest wines in the Southern Rhone as well as France."
A fresh, tropical, floral white with minerality and bright acidity. Great with funky cheeses!
2013 Perrin Cotes du Rhône Reserve Rouge
Wine has been the focus of the Perrin family for over a century. They have a deep belief that working organically and maintaining traditional manual methods is the only way to create wines that truly express the land. Each time we taste this wine, heads nod and smiles appear. In addition to its incredible affordability, it is really great wine! This is a classic Southern Rhone blend driven by red and black fruit-filled Grenache, plus spicy, earthy Syrah. The rest is a carefully selected mélange of Carignan, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Fruity, with fine wonderfully integrated tannins.
Consistently good, vintage after vintage!
