Hailing from different parts of the globe, Kobal wines come from the Haloze appellation in Štajerska (Stye-ehv-ska) Slovenia. Haloze is one of the oldest and most traditional wine regions in Slovenia and Europe. The culture of vine growing dates back 2000 years, to Roman times. Choya was founded by the Kondo family in 1914, and at first, focused on viticulture. In 1959, the company made the historic decision to start the production of Umeshu. Today, Choya is the biggest producer of Umeshu in the world and is created in Osaka, Japan.
