Wine Pick #1:
d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab 2021
McLaren Vale, Australia
Since 1912, the Osborn family has grown grapes and made wine in the picturesque surroundings of McLaren Vale. Today, the fourth-generation family member Chester Osborn is at the winemaking helm, making distinctive wines using traditional methods in the winery and the vineyard. All their estate-owned and leased vineyards are NASAA Certified for organic and biodynamic processes.
Wine Pick #2
Penley Estate Francis 2020
Coonawarra, South Australia
Penley Estate is continuing a family tradition that spans five generations. The winery was established in 1988 when the Tolley children continued the winemaking heritage of their pioneering families, Penfold and Tolley, both storied names in the Australian wine industry. Their descendants, sisters Bec and Ang Tolley, run Penley Estate, proudly channeling the vim and might of their ancestors. Penley Estate's 240 acres of vineyards were planted atop Coonawarra's "terra rossa" soils with the aim of producing terroir-driven wines with distinctive regional character and are now regarded as one of the region's leading Cabernet and Shiraz producers.
CHEESE PAIRING OF THE MONTH:
Green Mountain Blue Boucher Blue
Boucher Blue is an American Cheese Society award winner! Based on a French Fourme d'Ambert, Boucher Blue is a true farmhouse cheese, unique to the Boucher family farm. It is sweet and creamy, with a unique woody taste of chestnuts, milk, and truffles, persistent with a long finish on the palate. The mild character and smooth flavor do not overpower as other, more classic blues can. It would be a great addition to a fresh salad or with watercress, ham, and hazelnuts, and of course, on its own. One of our team's favorite blue cheeses!
Recipe of the Month:
