Wine Pick #1:
Possessioni Serego Alighieri 2019
Veneto, Italy
The Serego Alighieri estate is the one with the longest historical, cultural, and winemaking tradition in Valpolicella, dating back more than 650 years. In 1353, the charming estate, which was already famous for the quality of its vineyards, was bought by Pietro Alighieri, son of Dante the Poet. For twenty-one generations, descendants of the Supreme Poet lived in the Possessioni. Finally, in 1973, the estate became a part of the Masi Group and the wines produced with such rich history and tradition were able to be enjoyed by wine aficionados around the world.
Wine Pick #2
GR Vins A.D.N. Patrimonio Rouge 2016
Patrimonio, Corsica, France
GR Vins is the ambitious project of David Risoul and Emmanuel Gagnepain, Oenologists from the Southern Rhône Valley. In 2014, after years of working with several talented winegrowers, they embarked on the crazy adventure of winemaking. Today, they buy grapes from some of the best organically farmed sites from a few of their top producers in different regions. Each new offering comes from a singular source where David and Emmanuel work closely with the growers, provide barrels and other tools, and check in on the wine as it finishes in the cellars. This selection process and hyper localization of the winemaking creates a true reflection of the terroir, no matter where they are in France.
CHEESE PAIRING OF THE MONTH:
Maplebrook Farm Burratini
Made exactly as they do in Puglia, Maplebrook Farm’s Burratini replicates old-world fashion by stretching curd into mozzarella and filling it with a luscious creamy center. The soft center, stracciatella, comprised of cream and strands of mozzarella gives this cheese a distinct flavor and texture. This burrata comes in two individual pieces per container and is perfect for topping salads, roasted veggies, and more!
