NOVEMBER 2021
CELLAR CLUB
It’s the season of feast & fun!
Gather around the table with your friends, family, and favorite folks to celebrate good food and good times. We have selected some of our favorite wines to go with your Thanksgiving (or Friendsgiving) dinner and help your decision-making that much easier this November.
Thank you for being a member of
The Cellar Club!
Wine Pick #1:
Union Sacré Elsass Dry Riesling 2019
Santa Barbara, Central Coast, California
Union Sacré is an homage to Alsace, France, and life's odd ability to build unexpected bridges. These wines are made by two friends from different continents. Union Sacré exists at the meeting of worlds. Made by two long-time friends, Xavier and Philip, who arrived at the Central Coast from opposite ends of the Earth. Xavier is a WSET certified, Oenology degree holder from France. Philip is a self-taught designer from Michigan who kind of misses living in a van. Between the two of them, Xavier and Philip have 25+ years of experience working in Central Coast wineries.
Wine Pick #2
VRAC Beaujolais Gamay 2018
Beaujolais, France
VRAC follows a centuries-old European tradition where villagers buy their wine in bulk "en vrac" from the local winery. It comes directly from the winemaker's barrels, ensuring that they are drinking their favorite wine at the best price. Gamay (aka Gamay Noir) is a light-bodied red wine that’s similar in taste to Pinot Noir. In fact, this variety is a cousin of Pinot Noir and it grows primarily next to Burgundy, France in a region called Beaujolais. Gamay wines are loved for their delicate floral aromas, subtle earthy notes, and surprising ability to pair with food.
CHEESE PAIRING OF THE MONTH:
Shelburne Farms, 1-Year Aged Cheddar
This farmhouse cheddar is made entirely by hand from the raw milk of the Brown Swiss cows raised by Shelburne Farms- a nonprofit sustainability education center and working dairy farm in Shelburne. Shelburne Farms 1-Year Aged Cheddar is sharp but slightly fruity and solid and firm but creamy and dense enough to be perfectly sliced for Vermont apples!
