This January we are learning all about 'hygge'!
Pronounced “hyoo-guh,” this Danish word has no direct translation in English, though “cozy” comes close.
January is a wonderful time to engage in "Hygge"! Whether it is enjoying a glass of wine after a day at the slopes, a hearty pasta dinner, or delicious robust cheeses, you are sure to feel the winter warmth.
This month we have selected two wonderful wines to enjoy while cozied up at home and to brighten the winter days ahead!
Wine Pick #1:
Fondo Indizeno Sauvignon 2020
Colli Orientali del Friuli, Italy
Fondo Indizeno is a fantastic new project from legendary winemaking consultant Christian Patat. Using his incredible knowledge and natural talent, he has built a reputation as one of Italy’s top winemakers, working with smaller wineries to develop their offerings and master their crafts. Born in Friuli himself, this is an area he pays special attention to, committed to developing the identity of this land and promoting its potential.

Bodegas Comenge Biberius 2018 
Ribera Del Duero, Spain
Bodegas Comenge is an organic winery with superb surroundings and the best views of Ribera del Duero. The winery was established in 1999 when Jaime Comenge started working with his desire to make wine. He believed that the vineyards are the fundamental pillar in the winemaking process from the start as he focused on the viticultural aspect of winemaking. The vineyards of Bodegas Comenge grow 100% certified organic grapes.
CHEESE PAIRING OF THE MONTH:
Gruyère
Gruyère has been produced since 1115 in the area surrounding the little village of Gruyère in Western Switzerland. This much-loved cheese is still made in local dairies according to the original traditional recipe. With its distinctive, buttery, caramel flavor, this is one of Switzerland’s greatest cheeses. Gruyère takes pride of place on any cheeseboard. A savory end to any meal, this fine cheese lends itself to the preparation of tasty hot dishes and is a key ingredient in authentic Swiss fondue.
