WOW Wines of the Week 9/24- 9/30
South Italy Wines
(Wines just waiting to be rediscovered!)
Argiolas Costamolino Vermentino 2017
Fragrance of macchia, the mix of evergreen shrubs and herbs that typifies the Sardinian landscape. Hints at aromas of pine and mint coupled with ripe stone fruit and sweet citrus. The palate is at once vibrant and textural and finishes with lingering acidity. Costamolino is produced with the Mediterranean table in mind. The wine's lemony acidity will accent rock lobster or squid but carries enough weight to work with spaghetti topped with bottarga or a bowl of brothy clams and fregola. Vermentino's herbal flavor can also highlight vegetables such as fava beans or fennel.

Cardedu 'Praja' Monica di Sardegna 2016
100% Monica, an indigenous varietal to Sardegna. The grapes are fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and aged in a combination of steel and cement. The name Praja is Sardinian for "beach", and that is an excellent place to drink this refreshing red. It would benefit from being served with a slight chill too! It is light in body and color with an earthy and spicy edge supported by a touch of red berry fruit. Enjoy on its own as an aperitif or with a dish of pasta served with lighter grilled foods.

Cottanera Barbazzale Catarratto 2017
Catarratto with a touch of Viognier. This fragrant white offer intense aromas of perfumed wild flower, yellow stone fruit and Mediterranean scrub. The tangy palate offers apricot, nectarine zest, floral notes and chopped herb alongside fresh acidity.
