Sours have been all the rage lately with some thinking they will oust IPAs from their perch atop the craft beer world. Time will tell, but either way, it's exciting to have so much variety in craft beer! This week we have two sours from one of our favorites, Hermit Thrush. They will be here for a tasting on Saturday, February 8th 2 to 5 PM. Come by and have a taste, cheers!

Hermit Thrush Gin Barrel Saison
Gin Barrel Saison is the result of working with distillers around Vermont to reuse barrels from some of the best spirits around. This saison picks up smooth vanilla notes from the American oak, and herbal characters of ginger, honey, and juniper from the gin. The result is a bone-dry, easy-drinking beer.

Hermit Thrush Party Guy
At Hermit Thrush Brewery, they encourage the reduction of waste in any way that they can. In looking at historical brewing processes, Hermit Thrush was intrigued by the Parti-gyle style of brewing where the mash from a strong beer is used a second time to make the wort for a lower-alcohol small beer. Party Guy, is the small beer brewed from the sour barleywine Jolly Abbot. Sour mashing brings out a bright lemony tartness that is supported by herbal aged hops and a dry malt finish. This is the refreshing, sessionable sour beer that you didn't even know you were missing. It's Party Time!
